Oops...I Did It Again

Inspired by Sophia's amazing stunt, and determined to prove that beagles are NOT slow dogs, I did it again...Yes, I managed to escape this morning when my mum went to town to run some errands. It is still a mystery to my humans how I did it.

Based on our neighbour (and my occassional sitter) Aunty C's account, I was found in the arms of a "good samaritan"heading towards my home. It appears that this gentle lady found me roaming down the street and carried me back. Aunty C did not recognise her but was very thankful (as are my humans).

As it turns out, Aunty C found our gate open. Now, mum is certain she closed the auto gate when she left in the morning. Upon closer inspection when she returned home, she saw patches of dirty paw prints (it has been raining cats and dogs everyday!) on the wooden gate. So, their theory is that I have somehow managed to bulldoze the autogate open. Further checks on the gate revealed that the latch is now somewhat loose.

Anyway, mum has called the technician to come and inspect the gate to prevent further escapes. She is also contemplating installing a CCTV to capture my escapades. Until then, I'm not telling how I did it. Who says beagles are slow?

P.S. I am still peeved at the allegation that beagles are slow dogs, so I have decided to do a poll to seek the views of my fellow dog bloggers. So, do take part. Terima kasih (Thank you in Malay).

Maybe your mom can put a padlock on the gate. That would be a real challenge!

Beagles are DEFINITELY not slow dogs! Don't listen to that sloppy writer,Kess...I know quite a few beagle friends (including you!) who are very smart indeed! But it's quite dangerous for you to walk around after your escape...thank goodness a person found you!

That's a silly stunt you have done to yourself. Kess. Your mum must be looking out for ways to prevent another disappearance and who knows what might happen next!

Going by my friends at Dughallmor, Beagles certainly aren't slow. Alfie, Gabbi and Rosie have been doing great at training classes! Maybe you just have to find what switches them on? (Food usually!!) Feel free to add us to your blog list, you'll be on ours. I thought I was already following you but remembered I failed in my last attempt....will try again.

Oh my! You really are an escape artist Kess! But you gotta be careful in what you do next time. Luckily that nice old lady was kind enuf to carry you back home. What if another stranger decides to kidnap you?! Just an advice from me.

Don't pay any attention to those stoopid people that say beagles are slow! They don't even have Airedales on their stoopid list and we are very fast! Please don't escape anymore! Even though it makes for a good bloggy post, it's very dangerous out there! Stay in your yard!

How do you learn to escape? I don't think you're slow at all.

I'm super fast, I just gotta figure out how to get out of the yard.

Maybe when I get out we can both run as fast as we can, then meet eachother in the middle of the world!

Slurp!

Never had problems with my beagle, Austin, escaping from our backyard. I think Austin just knows there's nothing out there he won't eventually see or do. He's quite patient for a beagle.

I'm told this Austin story is worth a quick read.

What? Beagles slow?? Whoever wrote that dog has no idea about beagles. I think they confuse slow with strong willed and a tad disobedient but that shows how smart we are. We know what we want and are pretty persistent till we get it. It also makes our mum mad when she reads those kinda lists. Be careful though Kess.

Oh my! Kess, you sure are a smart dog! It must have taken you days of observations before cracking your brains to open the gate! Will you please teach me how to do it?

Who said we beagles are the one of the least intelligent dogs!!! Though I do admit that I'm a little laid back at times, I'm sure we are nowhere near slow!

If beagles are slow and less intelligent dogs, then how and why would hunters trained our ancestors to hunt rabbits!?!?!

There is trainable and there is smart. Beagles are smart, but difficult to train. Though they are easier to train than cats. There is a guy here in KW has a show with trained cats that do tricks.

The people who said that beagles are slow obviously doesn't know any beagles! So clever to open the gate by yourself! But it's dangerous out there without our people, so next time, just open it and lounge around in the gateway 'til someone notices. It makes your point and keeps you safe!
