Watchdog

Beagles are hunting dogs. That's in our nature. But beagles also make good watchdogs. Don't be fooled by our medium size and gentle faces. When the situation calls for it, we will protect our humans and our territory. Woe behold any stranger, man or beast who infringes our property.

Beagles are attentive...

We will bark, and believe me, beagles have deep barks which belie our size.

We will bark in the car...

We will bark at the squirrel in the tree...

We especially get upset at the monkeys in our backlane...

And the naughty monkey who boldly strolls on the wire in front of our house

As you can see, between the junk mail delivery guys, the mailman, cats, squirrels and monkeys, this beagle is a very busy watchdog.

After all that hard work...

Our cousin Monte is 1/2 beagle. He came from a beagle rescue actually. He has a crazy bark... and it comes in various forms. Excited, sad, angry, annoying... He is cute though!

You are a good watchdog Kess! We are god Alarm Dogs. We alarm our owners when there's somebody at our front gate. But once that person steps into our porch, they instantly become our friends! Heehee! We also like to bark at cats that are fighting outside our house because we're actually supporting our 3 legged cat, Ginny to win the fight! That girl is a good Guard Cat I tell ya. She will not allow any stray cats to come close to our property. I have seen her & another cat leaping into air & whacking each other up. But it's Ginny the cat with only 3 legs that wins. All the stray cats get very terrified of her. Oh yeah. That's our Ginny!!!

Oh Kess, how cool to have monkeys to bark at! Zeke and I have birds and squirrels and sometimes iguanas to bark at, but we've never seen a monkey - wow! Congratulations on the nifty award!

See ya!

We know about barking. We bark at bicycles, rollboards, golf carts, the mailman, trailers, other dogs and some other fun stuff. We have to let Dad know what to come check out.

Cinnamon barks like you! So, I think she will make a very good watch dog too. Actually her loud barks are well-known at her agility class. Humans at the class say her barks are really loud for the small body. :-)

Wow, thanks for the award, Kess! You are so lucky to have monkeys to watch for. All we have are squirrels and maybe a deer and some birds once in a while.
